Everyone is tuning into these prolonged live streams of music on YouTube, me included. (In fact, while I blog I am listening to one as I type). Uploaded by some familiar channels like ChilledCow, Chillhop (my favourite) & Fantastic Music.

What is Lofi?

Lo-Fi (or DIY), which stands for "Low Fidelity" is a genre of music where audio production quality is imperfect compared to other genres. It has been described as "unfavourable signal-to-noise ratio," by Music Educator, R.Murray Schafer.

Why Lo-Fi should be on your playlist?

First of all, unlike listening to music with lyrics which when played while studying or reading, makes your brain confused as to where to put it's music since you have a conscious awareness of the music being played. So background music, like Lo-Fi is suitable.

Also, accoriding to Hyde School, "listening to Lo Fi music you are helping your brain to focus. The brain picks out the differences in sound and in turn helps it get into a mindset of focus. It is great for if you need to cram and you can’t seem to sit still, it can give your brain something to work alongside with," read the full article on that here.

In Conclusion

This is an topic I am exploring, so more emphasis on this to come soon!
